Gorgeous historic hotel at the heart of Casco Viejo.

The hotel itself is gorgeous! A historic hotel building, it's been renovated beautifully. The public spaces are wonderful, I particularly loved the swimming pool with a stunning view across the old town across to the modern. The best location at the heart of Casco Viejo. We had such fun walking to bars and restaurants in the evenings. Easy rides with Uber pretty much everywhere in town. Very clean and perfectly maintained hotel. Professional and courteous personnel. The breakfast buffet is excellent, absolutely worth adding it at check-in if your rate does not include breakfast. I'd love to stay again at this hotel!

The only thing we did not love was the room itself. The rooms facing the inner courtyard have very little daylight. And our room for some reason was extremely cold when we arrived (+17.5C!). The room temperature / AC is system-controlled so you cannot easily and quickly adjust it. We got help but it took more than 24 hours to arrive at a comfortable room temperature. Next time, I'll book a room facing the street, one with a balcony.

Wonderful!

The old world charm is strong here. It is beautiful with lots of gorgeous wood and the central steps are amazing. I was impressed walking in and stayed that way. Service was great, food was delicious and we loved the roof top bar. The room was comfortable, including the bed, and clean. Plus the location is ideal.

Beautiful hotel reminiscent of a bygone era.

The hotel was very interesting, and it felt like going back in time to a bygone era, while maintaining all the modern conveniences. We enjoyed sipping drinks from the bar in the lobby while listening to a spectacular violinist play. The location downtown on the square made exploring that part of the city exceptionally easy. My group and I enjoyed the rooftop bar, which had a great night time view.

My only complaint is that I didn't have more time to stay. I was only there for one night.

Good stay in Casco viejo!

Great location in Casco Viejo close to restaurants and stores. Big spacious lobby with nice spaces to sit. Breakfast buffet with lots of choice, possible to have breakfast already at 6.30! Beautiful live music in the lobby every day.

Small family room with no view. Restaurant in the top floor is quite expensive (long wait time). Only a few deck chairs on the rooftop where pool is for sun lovers, almost always occupied.

Very Good

The facilities, the staff and the cleaningness

No issues with the hotel. However the location is very turistical, with parties running to early morning hours. If you are a light sleeper this location is not for you.

Great improvement

The hotel has a great location!! The staff are super friendly. Just keep in mind that one is the first hotel in the city. Rooms are smaller than normal standard but have their charm.

Front desk, consier, bar, restaurant, valet, etc. staff are the best. Jose Cortes is a great asset to this hotel. His personality and great disposition and knowledge make him outstanding.

We had a lovely week long stay at this hotel.

The hotel is beautiful. Our room provided a beautiful view of the plaza and cathedral. The room was clean - the hardwood floors were really nice. Bed was more comfortable than my one at home. The AC was perfect and low humidity in the room. Location in Casco Viejo cannot be beat. I have been traveling to Panama for over 30 years and have stayed at many other hotels in the financial district. This was BY FAR my best trip.

There was no way to turn on the bathroom light without additional lighting coming on in my room. I had to use my flashlight to use the bathroom at night without disturbing everyone else. There was no way to hang up wet bathing suits to dry. Some historic information on the hotel at check in would have been nice. In English and in Spanish.

Great location in superb old town district. Lovely lobby architecture and open spaces for sitting. Attractive little roof top pool. Staff lovely.

Bathrooms a little ‘tired’. Quite expensive - better value for money in the downtown city but old town area can charge a premium
